Pre-School Investigate Tall, Taller and Tallest

In Pre-School this week we have been using the story, ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’, to investigate the concept of tall, taller, tallest and short, shorter, shortest. We have been on a maths walk to identify objects which are longer or shorter than others.

Our class caterpillars have formed cocoons and we have successfully transferred them into their new home. We have been observing them daily and talking about what we can see. It has been a pleasure to hear the interesting comments and thoughtful ideas expressed by the children.

Outside, we have helped to make chalk paints by squashing pieces of chalk with a block and then mixing water in with the powder to create a paint. We have used tools and our hands to explore a range of textures in the tuff trays such as grass, jelly, oats and ice. We have been impressed with the strong arms and shoulders we have seen using the monkey bars.
