Nursery Take a Walk Through the Jungle
It's been a busy week in Nursery as we come to the end of our Jungle topic. We began the week reading the story 'Walking through the Jungle' where the story was brought alive to the children as they made their way through the different scenes of the story during a 'bare foot trail.' The children slid through the stinky crocodile swamp, crept through the tickly jungle grass and stomped through the sandy Savannah, before eventually splashing and sploshing through the watering hole!
On Tuesday, we read ‘Handa's Surprise’ and investigated different fruits eaten by animals when making jungle smoothies. The children developed their fine motor skills when chopping and squeezing the different fruits. To complete the week, the children created their own jungle animal habitats, spending time with their teachers researching where their animal lives, before choosing various materials to make the perfect home for them.
In Forest School, we went on a jungle animal hunt to find all the animals that escaped from our classroom last week!! Armed with binoculars, the children found clues around the woods which led them to the hiding animals.
