Year 2 Begin Seed Topic in Science

Rooms full of smiles have been evident in Year 2 this week. The children have returned happy and full of tales big and small from their Easter holidays. As Spring is in the air we have focussed our science activities on the humble seed. We discovered the wide variety of seeds we have in the fruit and vegetables we eat every day, dissecting them to discover their seeds hidden within. We particularly enjoyed the journey the avocado seeds are transported on when eaten by a sloth! We also look at the many different shapes that help the seeds float, glide or spin through the air. The children particularly enjoyed discovering for themselves the protection a plant can give a seed. Being back in the playground again with all our friends has been such a lot of fun. A great start to the new term.
