Reception Get Up Close to Caterpillars

To start our new topic of ‘All Creatures Great and Small,’ the Reception children are eagerly awaiting the arrival of some new members of the class... our very own caterpillars!  We cannot wait to follow them on their life cycle journey, releasing them later in the term over the butterfly friendly flowers that we have planted in our outside area. The children are also keeping a close eye on our tadpoles and are looking eagerly for the appearance of back legs!  Real and imagined animals will inspire the children‘s cross-curricular learning activities throughout this term, with work on pets, minibeasts and farm animals. We will also travel further afield and look at different habitats across the world and the huge variety of animals that live there.  We will make the most of this amazing weather and adventure out and about as much as possible to observe and learn about the mammals, insects and birds in our beautiful grounds too.
