Year 1 Enjoy the Space Dome
The Space Dome brought that sense of awe and wonder to our Year 1 children this week. As they entered the dome, their faces were alive with excitement and awe! Our youngest children get the opportunity to develop a life-long love of learning through these enrichment experiences. They lay back and watched as the dome filled with amazing pictures of space and planets, the moon landing, star constellations and the current Dragon Crew landing that took place the day before. Simon from Space Odessey was amazed at the children’s knowledge and added more detail to his workshop to extend and challenge our children! In English, the children enjoyed reading a different version of “The Three Little Pigs” as the wolf expressed his point of view. The children enjoyed writing sorry letters to the pig from the poor wolf who had a terrible cold and had accidently
sneezed, blowing the houses down (or so he says). In maths, we enjoyed learning how to measure using non-standard and standard units. We also made books about homes in the past during our History lesson, making comparisons between homes 100 years ago and homes today.
