Reception Practice Prepositions
Around, next to, under, through and over have been the focus for our maths problem solving this week as the children have been challenged to follow instructions using prepositions. The wonderful story of Rosie's walk had us giggling, when the unfortunate fox got more than he bargained for as he followed Rosie around the farm.
Our farming focus continued on Thursday, when we had an amazing trip to the Rural Life Museum. The children made their own butter and learned how they used to separate the corn from the husks with beaters. We then ground the corn into flour and brought it back to school. A walk around the museum introduced the children to life in the past, both in homes and on the farm. They were not so keen on the idea of only having an outside toilet but were fascinated by the mangles and tubs for washing clothes and the apple press.
It has been a wonderful week, full of awe and wonder as we have travelled into the past.
