Pre-School Enjoy the Story of Zog
In Pre- School this week we have been having lots of fun sharing the story Zog as our key text; we have been using the small world castle, knights, horses and dragons to retell this and other stories with friends. Taking turns in speech and negotiating a storyline has been such a pleasure to observe, along with using some ambitious vocabulary. There was lots of fun and creativity when we made some Princess Pearl crowns, showing high levels of concentration when selecting and placing the pieces. Using the castle, we used different characters to demonstrate our understanding of prepositional language- we used the outside apparatus to further explore this language.
On Wednesday we made some “nice soothing peppermints” from Zog which Princess Pearl gave him when his throat was sore- we measured, mixed and rolled before cutting out shapes. Following the instructions, everyone was very keen to be involved, and we worked as a team to make the treats. We have also made some mixed media golden stars which we put onto the window to let the light shine through- children were using different tools for a purpose and showed accurate skills when using the scissors.
In the garden, we have been using the blocks to make some tracks for us to climb and balance on- children have been encouraging each other to be brave when trying new movements and holding each other’s hands on the tricky bits showing super kindness to each other. Everyone has enjoyed the new sand area, which has led to some creative role play and lots of fun!
In our music lesson this week, we learnt some new songs and the children have impressed us with their knowledge of volume and pitch, with lots of joining in with words and actions. In ballet, we have been jumping our feet together and apart on the spots to show our feet in first and second position.
Next week we will be sharing the Julia Donaldson story, ‘The Rhyming Rabbit’.
