Nursery Create Spirals
This week we have continued our topic of 'Minibeasts' focusing on snails. We read a fun story called 'Norman the slug with the silly shell'. Norman used a doughnut for a shell in the story and this sparked some excellent imaginative and creative play within the classroom. The children have been making snails on the playdough table, finding different objects to use as shells and in the role play area, they have enjoyed playing the role of 'bakers' when working in the doughnut shop.
We have looked at spirals, using loose parts to make spiral patterns, and practiced forming spirals during our 'Magic marker' session in foam. We also made snail pizza spirals.
In the creative area the children have explored colours and patterns when making clay snails and painting snail stencils.
