Pre-School Toast Pancakes
We have had a wonderful week in Pre-School using the story, ‘Room on the Broom’ as a stimulus for role-play, storytelling and creative activities. It has been lovely to hear the children using props to re-tell the story and we have been impressed with the children’s knowledge of rhyme and their ability to identify then continue a rhyming string. In our Farm Shop role play area, the imaginative play has been delightful- fantastic interaction between children and impressive language being used.
Lots of children have been keen to explore the balancing scales this week and we have investigated the concepts of heavy/light and balance. There has been lots of investigation using
resources from inside and out to find out what happened when they combined them onto the scales. We have used the sentence stems “I predict” and “I think” to talk about what we think could happen.
On Tuesday afternoon, we had a glorious time in the sunshine celebrating Pancake Day by toasting pancakes over the fire and listening to the story Mr Wolf’s Pancakes.
We also made rainbow fruit kebabs on Wednesday afternoon to support our learning in PSHE about Healthy Bodies; we have been impressed with the language the children used to describe the taste, texture and appearance of the different fruits.
Next week our story is ‘Zog’.
