Reception Create a Loveliness of Ladybirds

It has been wonderful to see the Reception children bouncing and skipping back into school after the half term break. They are very excited about our new 'Spring Watch' topic and were thrilled to see the hyacinths had bloomed over the holidays. There had been much debate over what colour they might be, and it was a victory for 'team pink'! 'What the ladybird heard' has been our focus text and the children loved creating ladybirds from clay and applying their phonics when making labelled maps of the farmyard. In maths we have been hiding treasure to support our learning about subtraction and have used number lines to count back from larger numbers. The rather changeable weather has not dampened the spirits and we cannot wait to see what next week has in store!
