Pre-School Enjoy the Gruffalo
Pre-School have had a Gruffalo themed week and have demonstrated a superb knowledge of the story; it has been a pleasure to listen and watch the children retelling the story using the pictures, puppets and props. Using the repeated refrains, they have taken turns when speaking with friends to share the retelling, confidently using the story language. On Tuesday afternoon, we enjoyed the sunshine and spent some time using the bikes, trikes and scooters. We have been really impressed with their gross motor control when using the wheeled toys and the way they have moved with confidence, with awareness of others around them. On Wednesday, we took part in a cooking session to create a Gruffalo Crumble- we talked about what we had done to create our crumble using the language first, next and finally we used our motor muscles to chop, mix and scoop to prepare the mixture- everyone listened carefully to the instructions.
We have a new farm shop role play area in our classroom which we have spent time in with an adult learning how to use the equipment and resources. Children have been taking on different roles and using the resources to create their own stories which has demonstrated their wonderful imaginations, we have heard some very impressive tales!
Next week we will be exploring the story Room on the Broom.
