Pre-School Make Gruffalo Crumble

Pre-School have been sharing The Gruffalo’s Child story this week and have been able to retell the story wonderfully using the props in the tuff tray. It has been lovely to hear children using the repeated refrains and story language to bring their own versions to life. On Wednesday, we made Gruffalo Crumble- we talked about how we had made it.

finally. We have been using maths games to reinforce one-to-one counting and numeral recognition, followed by one more or one less.

We enjoyed a game of Gruffalo pairs this week which involved a group of us taking turns and watching carefully to spot the pairs of matching cards; this was a great opportunity to encourage resilience as it was quite tricky to start with! We persevered and all had a successful game, showing lovely turn taking and resilience.

In music this week, we have been using a range of voices to say rhymes and have responded to the adults using different volumes, speed or pitch. We practised Chop, Chop and Slowly, Slowly rhymes with actions, ask your children to try and recall them!

It was fantastic to welcome parents in to share a motor skills session in the classroom followed by a PE session in the sports hall, thank you to all who shared this event with us.

Next term we will be exploring the wonders of Julia Donaldson’s stories and sharing some of our favourites such as Zog and Room on the Broom. Have a super half term!
