Nursery Paint Stickmen
This week, Nursery have been reading the story of 'Stickman' by Julia Donaldson. It is a firm favourite within the Nursery and it has been brilliant to hear the children confidently joining in with key-refrains and helping to re-tell it.
The children have been busy, taking part in a range of 'stick' based activities. At the beginning of the week, we enjoyed a walk through the woods, hunting for sticks that looked similar to stickman and of various sizes. In the classroom, the children then helped to organise and sort the sticks into big, medium and small categories.
In the creative area, the children have been painting their own stickmen, counting out leaves and eyes and they also made some delicious chocolate stickmen!
To finish the week and to round up our topic of 'Winter Wonderland' the children discovered poor Stickman 'frozen and covered in frost'. They used the knowledge they have learnt this term to find ways to free Stickman from the ice so he could get back to the Family tree.
