Lower School Maths Morning 2025

On Monday morning, Years 3 and 4 dived straight into the Lower School Maths Morning after assembly. Five very different maths activity stations had been setup at different locations around the school and the children rotated between these stations competing in ten mixed ability groups. At one station their ability to make wacky estimations was put to the test. At another station they had to measure exactly how far they could toss and wellington boot. Beside the swimming pool, they battled in their teams through a series of capacity and volume related puzzles, and in Miss Milne’s classroom they played Batty Bingo. The final challenge was a treasure hunt that took them around the whole school searching for maths clues that they had to solve which then told them where to go next.

All-in-all a superb morning of challenging and enjoyable maths, putting to the test all of the skills and concepts that they have been working so hard on in their maths lessons.

Team Browne won the competition with a final score 45/50, but each and every team did their very best and I was enormously impressed with their level of focus and application.
