Pre-School Work on their Tower Building

Pre-School have enjoyed reading ‘Polar Bear Polar Bear What Do You Hear’ this week which has led to some fantastic retelling of the story and accompanying sound effects. Everyone has taken part in a rhyming pairs game and it has been lovely to hear so many children able to hear and continue a rhyme. When we went on an adventure walk, we all joined in with the Polar Bear rhyme and we heard birds tweeting, children shouting and boots splashing.

Practicing our counting, we have been touching each object this week as we counted. We have focussed on the number 7, we also made towers of 7 blocks. Some of us talked about what one more would look like and one less, we used blocks to show our understanding.

Using games and puzzles, we have been reinforcing how to take turns and share in games, it was then evident during independent play that lots of children are able to take turns and share independently. The marble run was a lovely opportunity for children to take turns in using the equipment and negotiating how tall to build their towers.

Next week our focus story is Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers.
