Year 4 were spellbound by Stonehenge

While Stonehenge shimmered in the heat of the hottest day of the year, the children were spellbound by the stones, which looked their very best in the sunlight.

They were thrilled to be standing so close to the actual stones as many of them had only viewed them from the A303. The cool, dark exhibition centre was a welcome respite from the heat and we enjoyed looking at the 360-degree view of Stonehenge through the seasons, as well as a reconstruction of how it is thought to have been built. Having seen pictures of the old visitors centre, they were impressed by the design and facilities of the new one. History and Geography at work on one hot morning with Science and DT (forces and construction) mixed in as well!
