Year 2 Makes Special Surprises for a Special Sunday

Year 2 Makes Special Surprises for a Special Sunday

Pre-Prep PrePrep

The weeks seem to be getting shorter or it may just be the joy of the increased amount of daylight we have experienced recently! Another exciting week in Year 2 has been enjoyed by us all.

We have met another nurse who went to the Crimea. Her experience was very different from Florence’s. The children have embraced the unfairness and racial inequality that Mary Seacole (the other nurse) experienced. They have discovered the love the soldiers had for ‘Mother Seacole’ as she was called by them. Her herbal remedies would be very familiar to many of us today. Mary used aloe vera for cuts and wounds, ginger for stomach problems and lemon grass for a fever. Being the inventor of the pie chart, Florence would have been very impressed by our data collection skills this week. We have created block graphs, and pictograms and used this information to answer relevant questions. We knew we needed to keep our work tidy and clear so we could independently interpret the data. We have also been busy making some special surprises for a very special person. Happy Mother’s Day to all our lovely Mummies.
