Pre-Prep PrePrep

Harvest Festival songs are ringing in our ears as the month of October started.

The Year 2 children proudly took to the stage this week to perform with confidence in the theatre. In the classroom, precision and accuracy were called upon in maths. We have been using decimetres, centimetres, millimetres, and metres to measure and compare a variety of objects in and outside the classroom. All the children worked very carefully and lots of peer support and guidance were seen during all the activities. We measured a wide range of objects from pencil sharpeners to the length of the Pre-Prep playground- 42 metres. The children positively found the correct units and measuring tools by trying the different tools. How could we measure a globe? Could we measure the playground with one metre stick?

As the cold season gets into full swing, our science lesson this week focussed on hygiene and microbes, good and bad. We have asked and practised with all the children how to wash their hands properly and not do the ‘quick dash hand wash’. We have also reminded the children about using an elbow for their coughs and sneezes, so the germs don’t spread so quickly around the classroom! Please can we ask to have our big school coats in school every day, as the good British weather is so unpredictable as the song goes four seasons in one day often describes it perfectly.
