Pre-Prep PrePrep

Continuing from last week’s non-fiction writing, Year 1 have been making books about The Big 5; elephant, buffalo, lion, rhino, and leopard.

The children chose their favourite animal and gathered some great facts and information to use in their book. They remembered they needed to use a title and sub-headings as well as pictures and interesting facts in their books. They loved reading them to each other at the end of the week!

In maths we have been using our knowledge of pairs to 10, to get to the next multiple of ten and then to learn to bridge past 10. This was challenging but, with determination, we got there!

Year 1 children are becoming very good at using a compass and reading a simple map. They practised their skills using a map of the African savannah and with a compass outside.

In RE, we continued to learn more about Islam and develop a deeper understanding of what is special to people who are Muslims.
