Portrait Competition Inspired by Our Late Queen

Prep art and dt

There was much excitement in this morning’s Celebration Assembly as the winners of the portrait competition of the late Queen were unveiled.

The competition was the brainchild of Mrs Thomas who said, ‘In the wake of the Queen's death, every newspaper, web page, magazine and shop window paid tribute to a face that we have grown so familiar with, that it seemed the Queen was almost part of our own families. It is an iconic and beautiful face and one that has sat for numerous portraits over her 70 year reign as monarch. What better way for us to pay tribute to her than to spend a little time doing some portraits of our own?

It has been an absolute pleasure to see so many of the Lower, Middle and Upper School taking part in this competition and to see the Queen's face portrayed in so many interesting and unique ways’.

Mr and Mrs Benbow,  Mrs Thomas and Mrs Froggat had the very difficult task of judging the wonderful array of pictures by the children. Well done to all of the children who took part and to the winners, Tilly, Milo, Naomi, Charlie and overall winner Moya.
