On Saturday 18 June the Friends of Hazlegrove hosted a Midsummer Ball – the first Ball to take place for 5 years (delayed for 2 years due to COVID).

Over 200 current, future and past parents, staff, Governors, Old Hazlegrovians and the King’s Bruton Headmaster and wife attended, and it’s safe to say everyone had a brilliant night.  A stunning floral display at the entrance to the marquee and a champagne reception greeted guests, who were then led into the marquee which had been painstakingly transformed into a stunning forest wonderland.  Following a delicious supper, there was some exciting and frantic bidding action as the Charity Auction came to an end, at which point the band started up, shoes were kicked off and everyone joined on the dance floor to let their hair down.

The aim of the Ball was to not only enjoy some good old-fashioned fun together, but to also raise funds to support the Friends of Hazlegrove, Hope and Homes for Children Ukraine Appeal and Mind in Somerset.  Melissa Abernethy, Chair of the Friends Committee said, “I am thrilled that the auction and raffle were such a success, and I would like to personally thank everyone involved who donated to these, who bought tickets and bid on auction lots.  This event was a whole team effort and it is brilliant that the Hazlegrove community got behind this event with such enthusiasm.  Without the support from our kind and generous sponsors, the tireless work of the Ball Committee and our guests for being so much fun, it simply would not have happened, so thank you to everyone involved.”
