The winners of our STEM competition to design a military aircraft for the future had a fantastic trip to RNAS Yeovilton today, where they learned about the evolution of flight in the Royal Navy.

The children had an insightful guided tour about historic flight and also had the chance to meet the chief engineer to learn about the maintenance of the aircraft. Following this, they had the opportunity to have a hands-on tour of the current serving Merlin aircraft with 845 squadron, where they all met some of the aircrew, investigated the cockpit and got strapped in as if they were ready for take off!

A wonderful time was had by all and a huge thanks to all of the Navy staff for such a fun and informative afternoon.
Miss Flinders.
