Prep art and dt

A range of Remembrance Day work was created by 5T in their Art lesson this week.

The pupils learned about the symbolism of the poppy in relation to Remembrance Day and studied other well-known artworks that contain poppies such as Vincent van Gogh’s Poppy Field, 1890 and Georgia O’Keefe’s Oriental Poppies, 1928. 5T first used pencil to draw their original composition and then used layers of soft pastel to add colour.

Head of Art, Mr Baker said "It is so important to reflect upon Remembrance Day and 5T appreciated engaging with it through art and the enduring symbol of the poppy. I was so impressed with their enthusiastic handling of pastel and their bold distinctive outcomes".
