Year 1 have been exploring Phonemes and Phonics

Pre-Prep PrePrep

Time flies when you are having fun in Year 1!

We loved thinking about the character of the little red hen and how she is brave, determined, confident and never gives up! We decided that the rat, cat and dog should write sorry letters to the red hen and remembered how to start and lay out our letters. The highlight of the day is perhaps our phonics lesson where we get to meet new characters, sing songs and read all about the phonemes they teach us.

In maths we have been counting in 2s, adding more and less. The children were impressive in their science lesson, using an information table to classify different types of animals using their scientific knowledge to decide if they were reptiles, birds, fish, amphibians or mammals and why!

They have made an incredible start to Year 1 and we are so proud of them. Happy half-term.
