As some of you may be aware, one of our parents, Pete Manson, a serving Royal Marine, was knocked from his bike in a road traffic accident in May last year and suffered life-changing injuries.

Pete suffered a severe spinal cord injury and is now a paraplegic undergoing treatment at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall. Pete’s recovery is extremely challenging and therefore it was a very special moment and real pleasure to welcome Pete back to School last term when he attended the Year 7 performance in which his son Daniel was taking part. Daniel attends Hazlegrove with his two younger sisters, Hannah and Mimi.

As a community, we would like to offer our help and support to Pete, his wife Ruth and their children and were delighted to hear of a fellow serving Marine, Scott Cartwright, who is running the London Marathon this summer in order to raise money to facilitate the Manson family buying a wheelchair with off-road capability. This will deliver a significant level of mobility and independence back to Pete, enabling him to go to the shops independently, join his family for excursions as well as come to School more frequently!

If you would like to support the raising of funds for the wheelchair the link to the crowdfunding page is here:
