Where else can you walk for an hour through the countryside and not meet anyone?

Where else can you gaze up at a giant, golden moon and see Jupiter suspended above, with no noise from civilised man? Where else can you build dens from birch poles and grass, light fires without matches and then go on to roast sugared slugs and boil dragon vomit? Where else can 10 year olds read maps by torchlight to hunt down animal stamps in the dark, wading through streams and dodging sheep? Where else can you slide head over heels down the muddy walls of a hill fort and later discover mud in places you didn’t know you had places?

For our fabulous Year 5s who have been enjoying this pristine piece of Wales, the answer can only be Naturesbase. They left for the trip looking neat and tidy, and returned muddy, exhausted but somehow more independent, resilient, and more together than they had been before. What a fantastic few days!
