Boarders take time for Remembrance before getting busy
Remembrance Sunday, apple bobbing, mountain bike riding, art attack and gingerbread houses - just a few of the activities that happened at Hazlegrove this weekend.
Early on Sunday we set off for Bruton to join the annual Remembrance Service. With over 70 boarders in at the weekend it rather felt like we colonised the town. It was great to see so many old Hazlegrovians and have the opportunity to honour and remember the fallen. Hannah S relished the opportunity to lay a wreath outside the church in Bruton
After a short service we returned to Hazlegrove and the children went apple bobbing or mountain bike racing at the go-kart track. Good humour and wet clothes were the order of the day as the teams battled it out to be crowned apple bobbing champions. Congratulations must go to George B's team who won during a very tense final. Isaac P was the mountain bike time trial champion. I think he also won the prize for being the muddiest!
After lunch we had the opportunity to tap into our creative sides. The children had great fun decorating their gingerbread houses. Ben W's team came out tops with a beautifully designed Christmas theme. In the theatre some of the girls created an amazing 3D interpretation of a fireworks display with Mrs Bartlett.
A reflective, fun filled and action packed Sunday was enjoyed by all.
