We had the most amazing experience at Bryanston School's Orchestral 'Flying High' day.

Our Year 8 pupils, all having achieved Grade 4, 5 and 6, hopped into the minibus buzzing with excitement. We set off on our merry way, once we'd managed to fit the harp into the bus, and sang all the way there! Once we arrived we realised that it was going to be a fantastic day as it was packed with instrumentalists from all the local Prep Schools. Over one hundred musicians were in attendance.

The children worked hard all day and managed to learn several songs ready to perform to a keen audience at 5pm. Our pupils were leading the violins, flutes, and percussion sections as well as representing the only tuba and orchestral harp. Seven and a half hours of playing their instruments and meeting fellow musicians exhausted them completely. Or did it..? They still pulled it out of the bag for a sparkling performance at the end of the day!

We cannot wait for the next Orchestral Day! I am so proud of our young musicians, they represented Hazlegrove with dignity, good humour, hard work and talent.

Well done all!

Miss Sayles.
