Where better to learn about circumference than in the woods measuring trees

Where better to learn about circumference than in the woods measuring trees

Maths

The Year 5 children went into the woods as an introductory lesson to circumference. They used tape measures and then a formula to find the different ages of the trees in the woods.

It seems some of the trees could be up to 300 years old. They were given the challenge to find a tree that would be almost the same age as they would be.

We had a wonderful time.
