Joseph, from Year 7, took part in the Sherborne Young Musician of the Year Competition 2018 at Sherborne Boys' School.

The competition was open to children from Year 7 through to Year 10 of at least Grade 4 standard, who live, or who are in full time education within the Sherborne area.

There were five categories: Woodwind, Brass, Strings, Piano and Voice which ran throughout the day and Joseph entered the woodwind section playing his recorder. He played two pieces of music in D Minor one by Handel and the other by Corelli.

Joseph won the Wood Wind prize which automatically put him through to the evening finals. He was by far the youngest with all other finalists in Year 10 and 11 (14-15 year olds). He played brilliantly.

"I enjoyed the experience and it was good to meet other young musicians. I am looking forward to taking part again in next year's competition." Joseph P.

Joseph has been playing the recorder since he was 4. He also plays the flute. Well done Joseph!
