Pre-Prep PrePrep

This week, we have welcomed lots of special visitors into school!

On Monday, we welcomed Mrs Chalke, one of our Pre-Prep mummies, into the Early Years so we could find out about her job as a paramedic for South Western Ambulance Service! She told us all about her job and to call for an ambulance if ever we needed one, before letting us explore her equipment, lying on the stretcher, wrapping ourselves up in foil blankets, and checking our pulse. We even got to go in the ambulance and turn on the lights and siren! We are very grateful to Mrs Chalke for giving up her time to visit us; enabling the children to familiarise themselves with an ambulance and paramedic if ever we should need one - we would definitely feel happier being greeted by Mrs Chalke’s lovely smiling face if we had to go in an ambulance!

On Thursday, Mr Stok visited Year 2 to turn back time and help them find out about ‘The Great Fire of London’.

Today, we celebrated Burns Night in the Pre-Prep; sampling haggis, neeps and tatties and listening to the rousing sound of the bagpipes, played so beautifully by Mr Cranfield.

Next week, we are looking forward to some more special visitors coming into school as we welcome our parents for our Nursery and Reception ‘Stay and Play’ on Monday at 8.40am, and Year 1 and 2s ‘Stay and Learn’ on Wednesday at the same time. I hear Butterfly and Ladybird parents have already been pre-warned to wrap up warm ready for adventures in Forest School!

A quick reminder, on Thursday 8 February, Reception will be welcoming their Grandparents into school at 3pm to share their story afternoon together, which is always a very special time.

Finally, on Thursday 1 February, we will be joining the Prep School in celebrating ‘International Languages Day’. Children are invited to come to school dressed up in their own clothes in the colours of a flag of their choice. It would be wonderful if you could explore and discuss flags and countries together, maybe even finding them on a world map, so your child can share which flag they are dressed up in the colours of with their class. And, if any parents speak a language in addition to English and would like to come into class to read a story, we would love to hear from you!

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Best wishes,

Hannah Strugnell
