Boarders Enjoyed a Festive Weekend

Boarders Enjoyed a Festive Weekend

Prep Boarding

On Sunday evening Mr Farquhar spoke about how important it is, especially at this time of year, to understand what unconditional love is and how to be genuine in what we do.

The boarders really exemplified those traits this weekend by being such positive and uplifting company and being so patient and thoughtful with one another.

The weekend began with the Boarders Feast. The year 8’s joined Mr and Mrs White for a drink in their common rooms to kick off the evening, looking and behaving very grown up! The rest of the boarders then joined them in the dining hall for a festive evening, begun by Mr Cranfield and Hector on the bagpipes. The children were all wonderful company and an absolute pleasure to eat with, really rising to the occasion!

One of the absolute highlights was playing pass the parcel to the music of the 12 days of Christmas led by Mr and Mrs Head.

We were also joined by the inspiring Lieutenant Colonel Halford-MacLeod, he delivered a wonderful speech depicting and explaining the bravery of the 51st Highland Division after they were abandoned at Dunkirk. The children were incredibly engaged and completely engrossed by this fascinating story.

We then headed over to the sports hall for a Christmas Just Dance Special- exactly what everyone needed after a delicious three course meal! The children were all in great spirits and fully embraced the event, all leaving with smiles on their faces and a spring in their step.

After a cooked breakfast on Sunday, the boarders were faced with the difficult decision of choosing an activity to do for the morning, with so many things on offer! They were participating in everything from cupcake making to Laser Tag, Christmas Craft to biltong making. The morning was a great success.

We then all tucked into a scrumptious roast lunch ready for an epic game of capture the flag led by Mr Bartlett. This really brought out the competitive nature of our boarders.

I know I am not alone in saying that the children really showed the heart of boarding this weekend with their willing attitudes and gratitude for all of the activities that were put on. It truly was a special way to end the term.

All that remains is to wish you all a very merry Christmas and prosperous New Year!!
