The children and staff of Hazlegrove did their bit for the future of Britain today. They turned out during a blustery and cold lunchtime to cast their vote in the Hazlegrove General Election.

Children from Year 1 through to Year 8 voted alongside members of staff and turnout was very high.

In preparation for the vote, there has been a General Election display in the Fitzjames Hub with the manifestos and policies of each party. It has been very interesting to hear the children discussing their political views over the past few days. They are incredibly well informed and have sincere thoughts and opinions. It is quite remarkable to think that the Year 8 children who voted today in our school election, will be eligible to vote in a General Election in five years’ time.

350 votes were cast and the results are as follows:

Conservative Party - 66%

Green Party - 17%
Labour Party - 9.5%
Liberal Democrat Party - 7%
UKIP - 0.5%

A landslide victory for the Conservatives at Hazlegrove!
