Where is water? Does water have a start and an end? Is water beautiful and musical?

We had so many questions to explore in Reception this week. The children’s minds were filled with curiosity and wonder as they took upon the role of water investigators. Their job was to find water around the school and think about where it might have come from.

The fascinating story of ‘Once upon a raindrop’ provided Reception with the opportunity to explore the water cycle and think about answering our question ‘does water have a start and an end?’ Not only did we learn about the beauty and versatility of water, but water also helped us to learn about capacity through an exciting game of ‘Fill the Bucket!’

Later in the week, the children wondered if water was beautiful. To investigate this further, Reception explored the work of Zaria Forman who paints various forms of water with her fingers. The children felt inspired to create their own wave painting using their fingers and different shades of blue.
