Lower School Enjoyed An Exciting Morning Of Maths Challenges and Activities!

Normal lessons were off the timetable on Monday morning, as the children of Lower School entered into their number-crunching morning of Maths!  After assembly, they were divided into ten mixed-ability teams, and they then spent the whole morning racing between five special maths stations competing in the Lower School Maths Morning.

At the first station, their powers of estimation were put to the test as they battled through a series of weird and wacky estimation challenges. Then they put on their coats and went in search of 12 maths treasure hunt clues hidden in different spots around the school. Next, they headed for the swimming pool and worked together through three water-based maths conundrums which tested both their problem-solving and their teamwork. After that, it was the Batty Bingo showdown that taxed their mental maths skills, and finally they faced the terrible Welly Tossing challenge, which focused on measurement and calculating averages.

So, an incredibly busy and fun morning of maths for them all, and I was really thrilled to see how seriously they all took each activity, how much they supported and encouraged each other and how hard they competed.

In the end, however, it was Team Tao who triumphed with an incredible 46 points out of 50 – Well done!
