Treasure Hunt and Laser-Tag fun in the woods for the boarders...

Boarding

When we drew the curtains and saw the beautiful, sunny morning we knew that this Sunday was going to be fantastic.  After the usual (for Hazlegrove!) amazing fried breakfast, even including Henry's Haggis, we set off for an inspiring chapel with Mr Beverley.

He showed us an astonishing film clip about the universe and the relative size of everything in it from the biggest star right down to the smallest atom.  He talked to us about how lucky we were to have everything that God has made for us and how important it is to remember to give thanks for it all.  After a few uplifting hymns as well - thanks Miss Sayles - it was off to letter writing.

Laser-Tag fun in the weeods

That all completed, the first group wielding laser weapons set off for the woods to plan ambushes, sneak on the enemy and generally have an absolutely hilarious time.  Others took on the challenge of Miss Richardson and Miss Spence's superb treasure hunt.  Teams were made up of children from all year groups and houses.  Clues were cunningly cryptic and the whole thing finished with a frantic race to catch the two gappers!  Absolutely hilarious and the victors were Isaac, Robert, Benji and Seamus.  For their toils they won a crystal growing kit which they immediately set up outside.

One group did some fashion design with Miss Milne - some remarkably stylish designs given they were working with newspaper and loo roll! while some did some fresh air clay modelling with Mr Kenny.  Super pots were created and left in the sun to dry.  Then another extraordinary lunch of roast beef and off to the theatre for a quick rest.

While the second group charged around in the woods, some did some fitness training with Miss Richardson and Miss Spence, some had fun in the sports' hall, others did some dancing with Miss Milne while some enjoyed watching or participating in the rip-stick challenge.  The rip-stick dash was won by Ben W with superb skills while Issy was second and Flo D third.  The scooter dash was won by Dino, second Charlie and third Felix.  Great speed and manoeuvres!  Some lovely rip-stick routines followed.  Miss Richardson worked her usual magic on the girls' hair, Miss Spence did an adventure playground session, a swim was enjoyed and after some free time it was supper soon to be followed by a welcoming early bed.

All in all we had a great day, making the most of the beautiful weather and made all the more enjoyable by the children's fantastic company.
