Four adventurous Year 3s took part in this year’s Somerset Poetry Slam at Dillington court. On arrival our group was shuffled into the theatre to listen to over ten different schools perform poems to us all. A grey and drizzly day was significantly brightened up by these amazing poems, which including sounds, actions and even music!

When it was our turn, our budding poets performed ‘When you travel to the beat of the drum’ by Brian Moses. Our performance included actions and lots of rhythmic drum playing which resulted in an energetic round of applause from the audience.

After a cake stop to recharge our batteries, we listened to a brilliantly interactive performance by Tell Tale a Rainbow Poetry group. The senior poets took us through the rainbow, questioning the audience to explain riddles provided and encouraged enthusiastic joining in with all the poems provided. We finally visited the ‘bubble zone’ where our creative senses were flexed by using a variety of different shaped containers to make large and small bubbles.

A fantastic day was had by all and we are very much looking forward to performing during the Lower School Poetry Festival!
