Inflatable fun for the boarders' in-weekend

Boarding

The weekend started with an idyllic English Saturday afternoon at Hazlegrove. Year 8 were heavily involved in their last sporting fixtures and everyone was occupied with different activities ranging from pebble painting, Quik cricket, water slide, den building, golf putting and the adventure playground. The day was rounded off with a lovely BBQ on the lawn and films within the boarding house. The junior boys bucked the trend and headed out to the woods for a bonfire and some music.

Sunday could have been a cold Autumnal day however with an optimistic spirit, the inflatable team set up outside on the fields whilst the boarders attended Chapel and letter writing. Enormous fun was had by all with the assault course challenge, a Bunking Bronco, jousting with foam sticks, running against the bungees and dressing up as Sumo chickens. It was fabulous and by lunchtime we were all flaked and ready for a rest! Also tried and tested, there were other activities on, including ‘Pie Game’, go-karts, magic ball and the water slide.

After an amazing roast lamb with all the trimmings, we set out for a busy afternoon. 24 children went off to Taunton to watch Somerset take on Glamorgan whilst the rest of us made the most of the inflatables. There was also a trip to the local playground in South Barrow. By 4pm, we were all shattered with fatigue but greeted by the music of an ice cream van. The children hurtled towards the turning circle to revitalise themselves with a Mr Whippy and Flake!

All in all it was a terrific weekend and most importantly, the children all had tremendous fun.
