Somerset County Cross Country Championships.

Last Saturday 17 Hazlegrove children headed off to compete in the Somerset County Championships. They had qualified to run at these Championships as a result of the Yeovil Area Trials back in December.

Over 300 children from across Somerset came together to race at the superb Aldon Hill venue.

Our Year 7 girls were first off and we were delighted that two of our runners finished in the top 10 - Lara R finished 3rd and Carina H 8th in the girl’s race.

Then it was the turn of our Year 7 boys, and wow, what an impression they made – we had 5 runners in the field of 52 boys and all five finished in the top 14. With four gaining top 10 places – Josh C 2nd, Philip M 3rd, Joseph P 7th and Tom A-H 10th.

The Year 8 children have to run with the Year 9’s in the junior age group and hence their races can be quite tough.

In the girls race Alice de P finished a brilliant 8th and in the boys race, which was a very fast 3.7km, Jake F finished 8th.

Huge congratulations to all of our Hazlegrove runners, who all competed so well last weekend.
