Our senior swimmers were really excited to have a VIP guest at their squad swimming session this week.  British Olympic freestyle swimmer Cameron Kurle joined them for their regular training session.

Cameron talked to the children about his experiences and his route to the Olympics.  It was inspiring to hear how much difference sheer hard work and determination can make when you are hoping to realise your dreams.  Cameron explained that when he was prep school age himself, he was not considered a particularly good swimmer but he was determined to be successful and put in 28 hours a week in the pool in order to try and achieve his goal.  The hard work certainly paid off for Cameron with his selection for the 2016 Olympics whilst still in his final year at school and representing Great Britain in Rio.  He now he has his sights set on Tokyo in 2020.

Cameron then joined the children in the pool for their training session giving them some handy tips on technique.  The children were delighted to have an Olympic Swimmer in their midst and we hope Cameron will be an inspiration to them all.

Thank you Cameron for taking the time to talk to the children and thank you to our French teach and Cameron's sister, Miss Kurle, for arranging for him to come to Hazlegrove.
