The Year 8 production is a highlight of the year for many of our leaving pupils and Hooray for Hollywood was no exception. It was a performance that will linger in the memory for years ahead as a celebration of this group of Hazlegrove Year 8 pupils.
Differing in format from preceding Year 8 productions, the extensive variety of material covered in this year’s show gave so many opportunities to this talented group of Year 8 pupils to perform and showcase their huge range of abilities. Every pupil was given the opportunity to decide how they would contribute to the production, and worked hard on their chosen activities during a very busy two-week rehearsal period.
In addition to everyone taking part in the big company routines there were 19 children singing solos, 21 children with acting roles, 15 in dance routines and 20 carrying out a multitude of production tasks. Forming the Production Team was a completely new concept this year and it gave those children with broader artistic talents, who like to be on stage in short bursts rather than all night, the ability to pull the show together from behind the scenes. Consistently impressing us with their creativity, confidence and maturity, they worked extremely hard to do just that from introducing an online ticketing system to providing popcorn in the interval!
Well done to Year 8 for two fabulously entertaining evenings! Also, a big thank you to all those who have helped them along the way - putting on such a spectacular production in just two weeks was a tremendous feat and testament to the effort of all involved.
The children clearly enjoyed the performances as you can see...
