How it all Works!

The choice of after-school activities on offer changes from term to term to reflect the changing seasons and demand for certain activities.  For Pre-Prep activities please visit the Pre-Prep pages.

All academic lessons in the Prep School finish at 4pm.  Day children are free to go home at this time or they are welcome to stay at school for afternoon break, to take part in one of the many clubs or activities and to do some prep.

Programme from 4pm onwards

The clubs time is split into two sessions, Junior clubs (Years 3 to 6) take place after break between 4.25pm and 5.05pm whilst senior pupils are doing prep.  Senior clubs (Years 7 & 8) take place between 5.10pm and 5.45pm and junior pupils have an opportunity to do prep.

This timetable allows children to be collected at 4pm, 5.05pm or at 5.50pm.  There is also the flexibility for pupils to stay for tea with the boarders at 6pm and to be collected later if necessary - there is a small charge for this.

The timetable of clubs for each term is published during the holidays or at the beginning of term.  Pupils in the prep school are given a form on which they indicate their choices of clubs for each day.  Due to demand for certain clubs, eg cookery, it is not always possible for pupils to get their first choice of club every term.

Club allocation

Pupils are advised by their tutors as to which of their club choices they have been allocated and clubs usually start after the first few days of term.

Activities on a Wednesday

There are no official clubs on a Wednesday due to the sporting fixtures schedule.  However, boarders and other children who remain in school on a Wednesday gather in the sports hall after afternoon break to hear the choice of activities and prep on offer for the day.
