Music in the Pre-Prep

Music in the Pre-Prep is taught by Mr Birch who is a very talented musician and is one of our Prep School teachers. He brings a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm and he is very much enjoying working with the Pre-Prep children.

Pupils quickly develop an appreciation of music. Specialist teaching ensures that the foundations of singing and music-making are in place.

All pupils are introduced to the violin in Year 2. This traditional instrument gives them first-hand experience of the way notes are formed. They can literally feel the music.

Year 2 pupils also receive class piano lessons for a term.

Individual instrumental tuition is available in a wide range of instruments to pupils in the Pre-Prep as with all other pupils in the school.

In addition to the programme of Prep School Concerts (in which Pre-Prep pupils can sometimes take part) we have regular concerts specifically for the Pre-Prep children.

After-school activities include percussion club and recorder club which give opportunities for the children to play in groups.
