Year 5 enjoyed a delicious Food Technology lesson this week as they made traditional Welsh cakes from scratch. The children learnt how to carefully rub butter into flour before combining the mixture with sugar and eggs. They then rolled out the dough and cut it into the characteristic round shapes associated with this much-loved Welsh treat.

After preparing their cakes, the pupils cooked them by frying them until golden brown and ready to eat. Everyone was delighted to sample their creations, and the classroom was filled with the wonderful aroma of freshly cooked Welsh cakes. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop practical cooking skills while enjoying a traditional recipe.
