A Busy and Exciting Week in Year 1
We had a wonderful morning welcoming parents on Monday for our Open Classroom event. It was lovely to see so many families enjoying activities together, creating windmills, writing letters and painting Little Red Hens. The morning provided a fantastic opportunity to share our amazing books so far, as well as showcase the tremendous progress the children have made since the start of the year.
On Wednesday, we enjoyed an exciting trip to Sturminster Mill. The children were fascinated to discover how the mill works and listened beautifully to our knowledgeable guides throughout the visit. We were incredibly proud of the excellent behaviour demonstrated by all of the Year 1 children.
As part of our science learning on Thursday, we visited the rabbits while exploring animal classification. The children loved discussing the similarities and differences between mammals and other types of animals; they impressed us with their extensive knowledge and amazing facts about animals.
In Maths this week, we have been learning to use the symbols for greater than (>), less than (<) and equal to (=). We have been very impressed with the children's understanding of these concepts and their ability to apply this knowledge confidently in their learning.
Year 1 should be extremely proud of all they have achieved this week, and we look forward to another exciting week of learning.
