All Things Feet for Reception
This week in Reception, we have enjoyed sharing the traditional tale The Elves and the Shoemaker. The story inspired lots of wonderful discussions about kindness, helping others and working together. As part of our learning, we explored our very own feet! The children measured their feet using cubes and carefully counted how many cubes long they were, helping them to practise their one-to-one counting skills.
Continuing our "All Things Feet" theme, we took part in a barefoot sensory walk around the playground. The children loved experiencing different textures beneath their feet as they carefully walked across the paving slabs, bark chippings and grass. We talked about the different sensations and used lots of descriptive language to explain how each surface felt, such as smooth, rough, prickly, soft, warm and cool.
It has been a fun and engaging week, full of hands-on learning, mathematical exploration and exciting sensory experiences. I am so proud of the children's enthusiasm and willingness to try new things!
