Year 8 Successfully Learn First Aid
As part of their focus on life skills in PSHE, Year 8 took part in an exciting and highly valuable morning of first aid training, designed to equip them with practical skills and knowledge. The session was a fantastic combination of teaching, hands-on practical demonstrations, role play and creative activities, which kept the pupils engaged, focused and eager to participate throughout.
During the training, the children learnt about a range of essential first aid procedures and why they are so important in emergency situations. They discovered when and how to place someone in the recovery position. They also learnt about defibrillators, including what they are, when they might be needed and how they can be used to help save lives.
In addition, the pupils were introduced to the principles of CPR and had the opportunity to practise their skills in a supportive environment. They also explored how to respond effectively to incidents involving choking and anaphylaxis, gaining a greater understanding of how to recognise the signs of these medical emergencies and take appropriate action.
The children were brilliant, demonstrating excellent enthusiasm and maturity throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions and taking part confidently in all activities. They learnt a great deal from the experience and enjoyed the opportunity to develop practical skills that could one day make a real difference. We were incredibly impressed with their positive attitude, engagement and willingness to learn.
