Nursery Explore the School Grounds
This week in Nursery, we have been focusing on developing our gross motor skills through a range of exciting dance, movement and mark-making activities.
The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a circuit session, where they practised balancing, climbing and coordinating their movements. These activities help to strengthen muscles, improve balance and build confidence as children learn to control their bodies in different ways.
We have also introduced our new ‘Magic Marker’ sessions. Using colourful scarves, the children explored making large movements with their whole bodies, creating different shapes and patterns in the air. They then transferred these movements onto our large mark-making board using crayons, helping them to make the important connection between physical movement and early writing skills.
Our movement of the week was a ‘rainbow’ motion, which sparked lots of discussion about our favourite colours. The children enjoyed exploring the school grounds in search of coloured objects, which they used to decorate their own sticky rainbows. Later in the week, they put their newly learnt rainbow movement into practice when designing colourful rainbow pictures using paints and crayons.
