Hazlegrove Rocks!

We had a fantastic week with the students at Hazlegrove rocks! While numbers were modest, they were excellent for a first year and included a great mix of ages, abilities and musical experience. The smaller group allowed us to develop the course, work closely with each child and provide plenty of individual support alongside the group activities.

A total of 13 pupils took part during the week, with three attending for the full course and others joining on individual days. Throughout the programme, pupils explored songwriting, learnt popular songs, developed band and performance skills, and had the chance to try a variety of instruments, including drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, percussion and vocals.

One of the highlights was watching the children’s confidence grow. Many arrived saying things such as, “I can’t play guitar” or “I’ve never played drums before”, only to leave feeling proud of what they had achieved. Seeing those moments of confidence and self-belief develop was hugely rewarding.

Every child brought something unique to the week, whether through their creativity, personality, musical interests or willingness to try something new. It was a real privilege to work with them.

Thank you again for helping make Hazlegrove Rocks 2026 such a success.
