Music Department

Music plays an important role in the everyday life at Hazlegrove. There is a purpose-built department of seven teaching/practice rooms and a large, well-equipped classroom. We also have a theatre with a new sound and lighting system.

The music curriculum follows guidelines laid down by the National Curriculum for Music and every child is encouraged to take up a musical instrument or sing in one of the choirs. All pupils from Nursery to Year 8 have class music timetabled each week.

Individual Music Tuition

We have an excellent team of 17 highly skilled, professional teachers and offer tuition on the following instruments:

Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Guitar, Harp, Trumpet, Cornet, French Horn, Euphonium, Trombone, Tuba, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Drum-kit, Tuned Percussion and Singing.

Concerts

There are several informal concerts each term which provides a platform for everyone having individual music lessons to perform, whether they are absolute beginners or Grade 8 scholars. We also have larger, more formal concerts every term giving plenty of opportunity for our ensembles and choirs to perform.

Hazlegrove Music Department is exciting and vibrant, full of energy and enthusiasm. It’s a great place to make music!
